Who gets Multiple Sclerosis?


Anyone may develop Multiple Sclerosis but most people are diagnosed as young adults between the ages of 20 and 40. Women develop Multiple Sclerosis almost twice as often as men. Multiple Sclerosis occurs more frequently in Caucasians, although it occurs in other racial groups as well. Approximately 50,000 Canadians have Multiple Sclerosis. This is a prevalence of about one case per 500 to 1000 people in Canada.
